CCI - Projector Pyramid
This project was a showpiece and part of CCI (Colombian Chamber of Infrastructure) in an important Infrastructure event. With this design, we were able to show and sell offices in the installations to the new CCI Building comprised of 327222.88 ft² and 20 floors.
The Projector Pyramid essentially is created with a large screen that hangs above the pyramid that projects the image to the sides of the glass. From any of the sides, you are able to see the animation projected in the center of the pyramid.
Designer Challenge
SENA is a Colombian public institution aimed to develop vocational training programs for the Colombian labor force. I created the initial design plans and with the help of the students at SENA in the carpentry and aluminum workshop, we were able to put a final design together. The biggest challenge for me was knowing the limitations of materials and choosing the best ones for the project. Luckily the students were able to help me better understand the material alternatives we could choose from.
We had a hard time figuring out what materials to use to support the structure without making it seem bulky and heavy. In the end, we used a steel flat bar and it worked perfectly. Something I would do different is create an aluminum frame structure that can be easily shaped for better structure design.
